Beka Leininger laughs as she hopelessly cleans excess clay from her hands and arms. Beka spends everyday sitting at the wheel in the ceramics building at California Baptist University, breathing in sunlight and clay dust, and throwing out some spectacular teapots.

Boone White, student at California Baptist University, carefully pours steaming water into his Chemex. He pours slowly, in a circular motion, taking caution not to drown the coffee grounds. White makes his coffee in this manner each morning and sees it as an art. Every Friday morning at 6am, White shares this art with other men on campus, crafting the perfect brew and discussing their faith.

Through the swirling of smoke and ground tooth enamel in the air around her, Dr. Jenn Williams, equine vet and dentist, reaches into the mouth of her hoofed patient to grind down his back molars. Horse's teeth continue to grow throughout their lives-- a phenomenon that can be slowed through grazing on hay or the help of Dr. Williams.

Emily Borden, freshmen English major at California Baptist University, lifts her face to the sun and gazes out the antique panes of the deserted prayer chapel on CBU's campus. From growing up in Austria, the transition into American culture has been multifaceted for Borden. Her intercultural experiences and own unique profundity about life is reflected in the windowpane of one of her favorite hiding places on campus.

AnnaRay Dickerson smiles up at her hair stylist, Jane Troung. Every Thursday morning you can find them in La Rivera Salon discussing Jane's life in China and Anna's seven grandchildren. Just as her hairstyle has not changed these 20 years, Anna's friendship with Jane has remained timeless as well.

Paul Im, student and resident advisor at California Baptist University, numbers off his residents for a late night soccer match. Im schedules regular athletic outings such as these to help create a better sense of community and camaraderie among his residents as they transition onto campus during their freshmen year.

Linda Lee Clark stands amidst bottles of all-natural health remedies in her Nature's Sunshine store, demonstrating the myriad of ways to use Chia seeds in your everyday life.

Andrew Koski pauses in the gutted cavity of his home considering the work he still has left to do. After buying his very first home, Koski discovered that the house, built in the 1920s, had no foundation and was beginning to deteriorate. While he works to give the house a new foundation, the foundation and future of this 26-year-old man is beginning to form as well.

Japanese children pray at their Sunday School in Ome, Japan. Their church has been in existence for over 50 years, serving their little community on the outskirts of the Tokyo prefecture.

Even with a gaping black hole in the side of his face, "The Zone" is able to offer love and companionship. After years of successful cutting competitions, he lost his right eye in a pasture accident forever changing his career as a competition horse. As he rebuilt his confidence, with half his sight, he also helped strengthen the confidence of a sensitive high-school girl and eventually began giving rides to children with disabilities.

Makenna Nishimoto, 6th generation Japanese-American and student at California Baptist University, sits pensively while sketching her latest anime drawing. Nishimoto says that while other anime artists tend to use structured lines to help guide their sketches, she prefers free-styling.
